Reports
The Reports produced by the Council fall into two categories :
- those resulting from research commissioned by the working groups or to inform Council's thinking
- reports arising from specific Working Groups, encapsulating their thinking and recommendation
In the first category are important pieces of research which have contributed
significantly to the Council's knowledge of the field and ability to make
recommendations.
In the second, three Working Groups have outlined their thinking and their
strategy to achieve change in separate reports. These reports are :
From the SME Working Group : 'Joining Entrepreneurs in their World: Improving
Entrepreneurship, Management, and Leadership in UK SMEs'.
From the Business Schools Advisory Group : 'The Contribution of the UK Business
Schools to Developing Managers and Leaders'.
From the Advisory Group dealing with management and leadership provision delivered
through FE Colleges, by private providers and within organisations : 'Management
and Leadership: Building Future Supply'.
The Council has produced two general reports:
the first published in June 2001 as a consultation document - 'Excellent Managers
and Leaders: Meeting the Need'
the second published on 13 May 2002 - 'Managers and Leaders: Raising our Game'.
Working Papers
Council Members also commissioned extensive work to support their inquiry. Due to the lack of an integrated source of data, knowledge and statistics, they were required to bring together material from many sources; and then to provide initial interpretation of that data for use by members. They also required exploratory papers to be drafted to help consideration of different refommendations which were being considered. The Council feels it is important that the data and thinking which were brought together on their behalf should be made available more extensively, through this site and by application to CEML and its sponsoring departments, the DTI and the DfES
