The Future Of The Professions

The overall aims of this report are to inform the Council for Excellence in Management and Leadership (CEML) in respect of its focus on management and leadership in the Professions and to assist them in influencing relevant stakeholders to make changes which will improve the quality of the management and leadership within professional areas. Further aims are to explore in detail the implications for management and leadership development in the Professions and to identify any future drivers that may be specific to the Professions, through a review of Futures and other relevant material.

The purpose of this project was fivefold:

To establish the anatomy of professionalism.
To identify the drivers of change regarding Futures and the Professions.
To construct a number of scenarios and the development of a typology.
To identify implications for management and leadership.
Conclusions and recommendations.
