Management & Leadership Teaching: Present Trends and Future Demand

Sadie Williams

Recent years have seen considerable and increasing growth in the area of management and leadership education, and alongside this growth concerns have been raised about both the supply and the quality of management education professionals in the current situation of economic and technological change. The research reported here was commissioned as a result of such concerns in order to examine some of these issues, assess present and future shortages, and make recommendations as appropriate. Three sources of data were used: national statistics supplied by the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA), in-depth interviews with Heads or Deans of Business Schools and written responses from employers.
